Laura Alper is a board certified licensed clinical social worker who has been in practice since 1978. Ms. Alper's many years of experience are reflected in a versatile and effective practice which combines insight with practical techniques that drive change.
In treating adolescents and adults, couples, families and groups, she has a keen ability to assess the dynamics of relationships and to provide immediate interventions which bring relief. She focuses on communication skills, assertiveness, and positive thinking. Ms. Alper believes in treating the whole person. Therefore, she takes a thorough inventory of the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual resources that support each client.
As a Harvard-trained mind-body clinician, she uses a variety of techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, re-framing, and prioritizing to manage stress and increase quality of life. Ms. Alper's areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, stress management, marriage and relationship difficulties, job satisfaction and effectiveness, co-dependence, and sexual identity issues.
Additionally, Ms. Alper has specialized in treating the emotional aspects of infertility, pregnancy and newborn loss, and adoption for the past 20 years. Ms. Alper practices in Millburn, New Jersey.
